Marketing today requires richer, deeper, stronger shared experiences with your audience. Consumers are co-creators of your brand. They want to be motivated. They want to motivate you. Consumers want to feel welcomed and needed. And the truth is, you need your customers to feel good about your business and your products. It’s not about being touchy-feely, necessarily, although that may be appropriate for some brands.

More generally speaking, connecting with your audience today requires thoughtful planning, including a clear understanding of your audience’s social footprint: where they are on the web, what mobile apps they are using to connect with friends, family, and their favorite brands. What will it take for customers to include your brand in their social circles?

But your relentless pursuit to empathize and become a partner in another person’s wellness, your willingness to go the extra mile to educate people about the virtues of good health, and your genuine interest in listening (compassionately) to what customers have to say about wellness will help you discover what’s real about your audience, and enable you to forge unbreakable bonds – bonds that will lead to real sales, word-of-mouth advocacy and above all brand loyalty.
